What Is Player Registration Protection?

Player Registration Protection, powered by ViCoverage (Vertical Insure), is an optional add-on offered during registration that protects a player’s non-refundable registration fees if they cannot participate for a covered reason.

When enabled in Sprocket:

  • Families are presented with the option to add protection during checkout

  • Coverage is optional and selected per registration

  • Claims are handled entirely by ViCoverage

  • Clubs retain 100% of their registration revenue

This protection reduces refund requests, chargebacks, and administrative burden for clubs while providing peace of mind to families.

Why It Matters for Clubs

Clubs that offer Player Registration Protection benefit from:

  • Revenue protection even when a player withdraws for a covered reason

  • Fewer refund exceptions and manual adjustments

  • Reduced chargebacks

  • More consistent enforcement of refund policies

  • Increased trust during registration

Clubs remain the loss payee, meaning registration revenue stays intact when a claim is approved.

What Is Covered

Player Registration Protection may reimburse non-refundable registration fees for:

  • Season-ending injuries

  • Season-ending illness

  • Short-term injuries

  • Short-term illness

  • Involuntary job loss

  • Required job relocation

  • Active military duty

Families must provide documentation when filing a claim.

What Is Not Covered

Coverage does not apply to:

  • Voluntary withdrawal

  • Personal schedule conflicts

  • Coach or team conflicts

  • Pre-existing medical issues within the past 90 days

  • Cancellation of the program

All claims are reviewed and determined by ViCoverage based on submitted documentation.

How It Works During Registration

  1. The club enables Vertical Insure in Sprocket.

  2. Families complete registration as usual.

  3. During checkout, they are presented with the option to add Player Registration Protection.

  4. Families choose whether to enroll.

  5. If selected, coverage is purchased alongside registration.

Protection typically costs approximately 7% of the non-refundable registration fee and is paid by the family at checkout.

After Purchase

After enrolling:

  • Families receive a confirmation email from ViCoverage

  • Policy details and claim instructions are included

  • Coverage applies to that specific seasonal program

All policy and claims questions should be directed to:

Filing a Claim

If a player cannot participate:

  1. The family logs into the ViCoverage customer portal at customers.vicoverage.com.

  2. They begin the claim process.

  3. Required documentation is uploaded.

  4. ViCoverage reviews and manages the claim.

  5. If approved:

    • The club retains registration revenue.

    • The family is reimbursed according to policy terms.

Clubs are automatically notified but do not manage the claim process.
