Sometimes you need to temporarily remove a player’s access to their team. In Sprocket, there are two ways to do this, and both prevent the player and parents from seeing the team on web and in the mobile app.
Restricting is typically used for overdue balances and can lift automatically once payment is made.
Suspending is a manual access removal that an admin can turn on and off as needed.
Both actions result in similar end behavior for families, but are used in different situations.

When to restrict vs suspend
Restrict a player when
You need to remove access due to an overdue balance
You want access to be restored automatically once payment is made
When the Restricted checkbox is enabled, Sprocket applies the following behavior:
Removes access to Schedule, Messages, and Roster visibility
Automatically lifts the restriction once the overdue balance is paid
Suspend a player when
You need to temporarily remove a player for roster or participation reasons
You want full control over when access is removed and restored
Suspending is always an admin action and must be manually reversed by activating the player again.
Restricting players (overdue balances)
Go to Players.
Search for the player and click the player’s Last Name.
Click the Profile tab.
Check the Restricted checkbox.
Click Save.
This is used when a player has overdue team fees. Once the overdue balance is paid, the restriction lifts automatically.
Suspending players (manual access removal)
Suspending a player hides them from the team roster and removes access to team communication and team calendar events.
From a parent’s view, suspending a player means:
The team will not be visible
They cannot communicate in the team channel
They cannot view upcoming calendar events for that team
Note: If the parent subscribed to calendar events before the suspension, they may still see events that were already synced up to the point the player was suspended.
Option 1: Suspend from the Accepted status list
Use this when you want to locate accepted players by program quickly.
Go to Teams > Assign Players.
Identify the program the player is in and click the hyperlinked number above Accepted.
Click Get Players (top right).
Click the Rosters & Invitations tab.
Locate the team and the player.
In the Status column, click the gear icon.
Select Suspend Player.
To restore access later, click the gear icon again and select Activate Player.
Option 2: Suspend from Assign Players (From Any Program)
Use this when you want to filter by program and then narrow to accepted players.
Go to Teams > Assign Players.
Identify the program the player is in and click Assign Players from any program.
Click Get Players (top right).
Click the Rosters & Invitations tab.
Set the Status dropdown to Accepted.
Click Get Players again (top right).
Locate the team and the player.
In the Status column, click the gear icon and select Suspend Player.
To restore access later, click the gear icon again and select Activate Player.
Option 3: Suspend from the player profile (Current Teams)
Use this when you are already in the player record.
Go to Players and click the player’s Last Name.
On the Overview tab, scroll to Current Teams.
Click the Accepted pill next to the team name.
In the Team Assignment area, click the gear icon and select Suspend Player.
To restore access later, click the gear icon again and select Activate Player.
If you run into issues
A player is still showing team access after being restricted or suspended: Have the family log out and back in, or refresh the mobile app. If they are subscribed to events, previously synced calendar items may remain on their personal calendar.
You need access to restore automatically after payment: Use Restricted, not Suspended.
You cannot find the suspend option: Confirm the player is in an Accepted roster status and that you are viewing them from Rosters & Invitations or Current Teams.
