If a coach cannot see Tryouts in Sprocket, it is almost always caused by missing access setup. In most cases, the coach needs both the right Tryouts permissions and the correct player pool assignment for the tryout registration.

Before you begin
Tryouts access is controlled in two places:
Staff > Roles & Permissions (controls whether Tryouts features are available)
Tryouts > Assign Staff (controls which player pools the coach can see for a specific tryout registration)
Most common cause: permissions and player pool assignment
1) Confirm Tryouts permissions
A coach needs Tryouts related permissions assigned to their staff profile.
In the left navigation, go to Staff.
Select Roles & Permissions.
Select the coach’s name.
Click Assign Permissions.
Assign the appropriate Tryout Admin Permissions, then click Save.
2) Confirm the coach is assigned to player pools
Even with permissions, a coach will not see players to evaluate unless they are assigned to the correct player pools within the tryout registration.
In the left navigation, go to Tryouts.
Open the correct tryout registration.
Select Assign Staff.
Select the coach’s name.
Click Assign.
Select the appropriate Tryout Pools, then click Save.
Repeat this for each tryout registration the coach should have access to.
Other things to check
They are in the wrong place in the mobile app
In the mobile app, coaches access tryouts from the Staff area. They will not see Tryouts from the parent side of the app.
Have them:
Go to the Coach tab.
Select the tryout registration.
Tap Player Pools to choose the pool they are evaluating.
They are not assigned as staff on the club
If the person is not added as a staff member in your club, they will not have any staff permissions.
Confirm they appear under Staff in the admin site.
If you run into issues
If the coach still cannot see Tryouts after permissions and player pool assignments are updated, have them log out and back in, then confirm you updated the correct staff record.

Why can’t a coach see players to evaluate?

Do permissions alone grant access to players?
