Accessing Teams in the Mobile App

Learn when teams appear in the mobile app for parents, coaches, and directors, and how roster status and team assignments impact visibility and messaging access.

Updated over a week ago

Teams only appear in the mobile app when the user is connected to that team. For families, that connection comes from the player’s roster status. For staff, it comes from team assignments.

Before you start

  • Team access in the app depends on roster status (for families) and team assignment (for staff).

  • Roster visibility is managed on the web platform and controls what families can access in the app.

Step-by-step instructions

How teams appear for parents and members

A team will appear for a family once the player is on the roster in an Accepted status.

What to expect:

  • Parents will see the team under the player on the Member view.

  • If the family has multiple players, they will see teams grouped under each player.

How teams appear for coaches and directors

Coaches and Directors must be assigned to teams to see them in the app.

What to expect:

  • Assigned teams appear in the staff view.

  • If a coach or director cannot see a team, the first thing to check is whether they are assigned to that team.

How roster visibility impacts the mobile experience

Roster visibility is controlled on the web platform.

If roster visibility is turned off for a team:

  • Parents will not see the team roster in the mobile app.

  • Parents will not be able to use the team channel to message the team.

  • Parents will not be able to start direct messages from the messages tab.

What parents will see instead:

  • The team channel will look like a view-only message thread.

What staff can still do:

  • Coaches and Directors can still use the team channel to message the team, even when roster visibility is turned off.

Tips and best practices

  • If a parent cannot see a team, confirm the player is in Accepted status on that roster.

  • If a coach or director cannot see a team, confirm they are assigned to that team.

  • If families need to message within the team channel, make sure roster visibility is turned on.
