What you’ll find in this article

Two ways to reward early registrations: using a discount (families see the discount applied) or a price override (the list price changes automatically).

Availability: Web browser only.

Choose the approach that fits your club

Sprocket supports early-bird pricing in two different ways. The best option depends on what you want families to see at checkout, and how you want pricing to appear for reporting/accounting.

Option 1: Use a discount (families see the discount)

Use this option if you want families to see:

  • the original list price

  • the discount they received for registering early

How to set it up

  1. In the left navigation, select Credits/Discounts.

  2. Create a new Price Discount.

  3. Set the End Date to the day before you want the price to increase.

  4. Under Assignment Settings, limit the discount to the specific Program and/or Registration(s) it should apply to.

  5. Save.

Why you might use this:

This is the most transparent option. Families can clearly see they received an early bird discount.

Option 2: Use a price override (families only see the current list price)

Use this option if you want the list price itself to change on a specific date, without showing a discount at checkout.

How to set it up

  1. Go to Programs.

  2. Select the relevant Program.

  3. Select the Registrations tab.

  4. Find the registration you want to update, then select the three dots (ellipsis) on the right.

  5. Select Price Override.

  6. Set the date the list price should change, then save.

Why you might use this:

If you prefer that pricing shows as a simple list price (rather than a discount), price overrides keep checkout clean. They also make it easier to view pricing history over time.

If you run into any issues, double-check that your discount is assigned to the correct registration and that the end date matches when you want early bird pricing to stop.

FAQs

What’s the difference between an early bird discount and a price override?

An early bird discount shows the original list price and the discount applied at checkout. A price override changes the list price itself on a specific date, without showing a discount.

How do I stop early bird pricing on a specific date?

If using a discount, set the End Date to the day before you want the price to increase. If using a price override, set the date the list price should change.

Can I apply early bird pricing to only certain registrations?

Yes. Under Assignment Settings, you can limit a Price Discount to specific Program and/or Registration(s).

Why aren’t families seeing the early bird discount?

Double-check that your discount is assigned to the correct registration and that the end date matches when you want early bird pricing to stop.
