Impersonating a Parent to Register a Player

Learn how to impersonate a parent to view the platform from their perspective, troubleshoot registration visibility, and safely test new programs using Special Registrations.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Impersonation allows an admin to view the platform exactly as a parent would.

This is most commonly used to:

  • Confirm a registration is visible to a specific family

  • Walk through the registration flow as the parent

  • Troubleshoot issues without asking the parent to screen share

Once impersonating, you will be taken to the parent’s dashboard and can register a player using the same steps the parent would take.

Available on web browser only

Option 1: Impersonate from a Player Profile (Most Common)

  1. Navigate to Players in the left navigation menu.
    This opens Manage Players.

  2. Use the filters at the top to search for the player by first or last name.

  3. Click into the player’s profile. You will land on the Overview tab.

  4. On the right side of the Overview tab, locate the list of parents and legal guardians connected to the player’s household.

  5. Next to the correct parent, click Impersonate.

  6. You will now be logged into the parent’s experience and redirected to their dashboard.

Option 2: Impersonate from a User Profile

  1. Navigate to Users in the left navigation menu.

  2. Use the filters at the top to search for the parent by first or last name.

  3. Click the user’s last name to open their account.

  4. On the Profile tab, locate the Account Options section on the right side.

  5. Click Impersonate user.

  6. You will be redirected to the same dashboard experience as Option 1.

What to Expect While Impersonating

Once impersonation is active:

  • An indicator at the top of the dashboard will show that you are impersonating.
This confirms you are viewing the platform as the parent, not as an admin.

  • You will see the parent’s dashboard, including their household players.

  • On the right side of the dashboard, you will see Open Programs that the household’s players are eligible for.

From here, you can click into a program or registration and walk through the registration flow exactly as the parent would.

Tips for Using Impersonation Effectively

Use impersonation to confirm visibility rules

If a parent says they cannot see a registration, impersonation is the fastest way to verify whether the registration is actually visible for that specific player.

Check the correct parent account

If a household has multiple guardians, make sure you impersonate the same parent account the family is using.

Validate the full experience

When troubleshooting, click all the way through to confirm:

  • The registration is visible

  • The correct registration option is available

  • The form steps, waivers, and checkout behavior appear as expected

Using Impersonation to Test New Programs and Registrations

Impersonation is also a helpful way to test new programs and registrations before making them available to families.

A common approach is to:

  • Keep the program closed to the general club

  • Open a registration only for a tester account

How This Works

  1. Keep the Program closed using the Program Start Date and End Date.

  2. Open a Special Registration for a test player.

  3. Impersonate the parent associated with that player and walk through the registration flow as if you were the family.

This allows you to verify:

  • Visibility

  • Forms

  • Waivers

  • Checkout behavior

  • Confirmation emails

Without exposing the program publicly.

Open a Special Registration for Testing

Available on web browser only

  1. Navigate to Players in the left navigation menu and search for the test player.

  2. Click into the player’s profile and switch to the Programs tab.

  3. Click Special Registration and select Create a new Special Registration.

  4. Select the registration you want to open for testing.

  5. Optional: If using Price Override, enter the amount in the corresponding field.

Please note: In some cases, a Discount may be needed instead of a Price Override. Reach out to your assigned Account Manager if you are unsure which to use.

  1. Update the Start Date if you want the Special Registration to open on a date other than today.

  2. Update the End Date if you want the Special Registration window to remain open longer than the system default of 7 days.

  3. If the tester is completing the flow without payment, select Enable Pay Offline.

This allows the registration to be completed without entering payment information.

Offline payments can later be recorded from the Payments tab on the player’s profile.

  1. Add any Notes for tracking purposes, then save.

Test the Registration as a Parent

Once the Special Registration is open:

  1. Use either impersonation method described earlier in this article.

  2. Confirm the registration appears on the tester’s dashboard.

  3. Click into the registration and complete the flow from start to finish.

This is the safest way to test new programming without impacting real families or live registrations.
