Adding External Connections

Learn how to add External Connections so league or tournament schedules from platforms like GotSport, MLS NEXT, or ECNL sync into Sprocket.

Updated over a week ago

External Connections allow you to bring schedules from outside platforms into Sprocket so that members and admins can see all events in one place. These connections are typically used for league or tournament schedules managed in systems such as GotSport.

External connections are calendar events that exist and are managed on a different platform and can be added to Sprocket to keep both on-platform and off-platform events in a single, centralized view.

AVAILABLE ON WEB BROWSER ONLY

Add an External Connection

  1. Find your team’s schedule in the external vendor (for example, GotSport) and copy the URL.
Make sure you are copying the URL for your team’s schedule specifically.

  2. Navigate to Teams in the left navigation menu and select a Team.

  3. At the top, toggle to the External Connections tab and click the + Connection button.

  4. Paste the URL you copied from the external location into the pop-out modal and click Save.

You will see the link saved with options to:

  • Test Connection

  • Sync Data

  • Edit

  • Delete

  1. Click Test Connection to confirm the connection successfully syncs to your site.

  2. If all events load correctly, click Sync Events to bring those events into Sprocket.

You can add multiple links on this page. Once the league or event is completed, you can delete the connection to keep the page organized.

Adding External Connections in Bulk

If your club participates in leagues like GotSport, MLS NEXT, or ECNL, you can add External Connections in bulk for all teams in a Program instead of setting up each team one by one.

Bulk External Connections are managed from the Teams area.

Add Bulk External Connections by Program

  1. Navigate to Teams > Manage Teams.

  2. Locate the Program you want to work with.

  3. Click the Bulk External Connections button for that Program.

  4. In the modal that opens, use Add Connection to choose one of the supported external vendors:

    • GotSport

    • MLS NEXT

    • ECNL

The next steps depend on the vendor you select.

GotSport Bulk Connection

For GotSport:

  1. Paste the appropriate GotSport URL into the connection field.

  2. Click Get Teams to pull in the team information from GotSport.

  3. Review the returned teams and mapping.

  4. Click Save and Continue to apply the bulk connection settings.

This will create External Connections for the selected teams that are linked to the GotSport schedules.

MLS NEXT and ECNL Bulk Connection

For MLS NEXT and ECNL:

  1. Paste the appropriate league or schedule URL into the connection field.

  2. Click Get Filters to pull in the available filter options from the vendor.

  3. Apply the filters as needed to match your Program’s teams.

  4. Click Save and Continue to apply the bulk connection settings.

This will create External Connections for the selected teams that are linked to the MLS NEXT or ECNL schedules, based on the filters you applied.

Bulk External Connections help you set up many team schedules at once so that External Connection links appear on each team’s External Connections tab without needing to configure every team individually.

You can still manage or clean up individual connections at the team level when league or event seasons are complete.

Managing External Connections

After you create one or more external connections, you can:

  • Test Connection to confirm the link is still valid and loading events.

  • Sync Data to pull in new or updated events from the external schedule.

  • Edit the connection if the URL or details change.

  • Delete the connection once the external season, league, or event is complete.

Keeping these connections up to date helps ensure the Sprocket calendar reflects the most current schedule from your external provider.
