Game Day Rosters

Learn how coaches create and publish Game Day Rosters in the mobile app so event communication and chats apply only to the players attending.

Updated over a week ago

Game Day Rosters let coaches create a smaller, event-specific roster for a particular game or practice. This is useful when only a subset of players are attending, when you are running a guest player group for an event, or when you want event communication to go only to the players who are participating.

Availability: Mobile app only.

Required role: Coach (assigned to the team).

What you’ll find in this article

  • Create a roster for a single game or practice

  • Copy a roster from another event

  • Make the roster visible to the team (and optionally notify them)

  • Start a chat with rostered players

Before you start

  • This feature is only available in the mobile app.

  • You must have the Coach role assigned to the team.

  • The roster you create applies to one specific calendar event only.

Step 1: Open the event

  1. Log in to the mobile app.

  2. If you have multiple roles, switch to the Coach tab at the top.

  3. Tap Calendar in the bottom navigation.

  4. Select the game or practice you want to create a roster for.

Step 2: Build the Game Day Roster

  1. Tap Game Roster, then select Add/Edit Players.

  2. Tap each player name you want included on the roster.

  3. Tap Save Game Roster.

Tip: You can also use the option at the top of the roster screen to add a roster from another game, which is helpful when your lineups are similar across events.

Step 3: Make the roster visible to the team

By default, the roster is hidden from the team until you choose to publish it.

  1. Tap the ellipses (...) next to Add/Edit Players.

  2. Choose whether to make the roster visible and:

    • Notify Players, or

    • Don’t Notify Players

Important note: Once a roster is made visible to the team, it cannot be hidden again.

Step 4: Start a chat with rostered players

After the roster is visible:

  1. Tap the ellipses (...) again.

  2. Select Start a Chat.

This creates a chat with only the players included on the Game Day Roster.

If you run into issues

You do not see Game Roster: Confirm you are on the mobile app and are viewing the event from the Coach role.

You cannot hide the roster again: This is expected. Once made visible, rosters cannot be switched back to hidden.

You selected the wrong players: If the roster is still hidden, return to Add/Edit Players and update it, then save again.
