Sometimes an athlete also needs staff access, for example: a team captain who helps manage events, or a player who coaches a younger team. In Sprocket, you can grant a player Staff Roles and Permissions as long as they have a Sprocket account.

Before you start

A player must have a Sprocket account login before you can grant them staff roles. You’ll know they have an account if you see the Account Options modal on their player profile.
For assistance in giving players access to login to their account, please view the What Are Player Logins? article.
Grant staff roles to a player
In the left navigation menu, go to Users.
Click Filters.
Under Player Users, select Include or Only (this ensures you’re searching for players who have Sprocket account logins).
Enter the player’s First Name and/or Last Name, then click Search.
Select the player’s Last Name to open their profile.
Go to the Roles & Permissions tab.
Select the Role(s) you want to grant, adjust the Permission(s) as needed, then click Save.
Important notes about what happens next
They get staff-level access for that role
If you grant a role, the player will receive the same permissions that role typically provides to staff members.
They’re added to the All Staff Chat
Players granted a coach role will be added to the All Staff chat in the mobile app.
Coaching access and team communications
If you grant a Coach role:
They can create and edit events for their assigned team
They can participate in the team’s chat
SafeSport messaging still applies
SafeSport rules still apply to messages. If a coach attempts to message a player on their team, the player’s parent will also be included in the message.
If you run into issues
If you can’t find the player in Users, confirm they have a Sprocket account (look for Account Options on their player profile).
If the player has an account but still isn’t appearing with filters, re-check the Player Users filter is set to Include or Only, then search again.
