Accounting Classes

Learn how to enable, manage, and use Accounting Classes in Sprocket to categorize transactions for cleaner financial reporting and easier reconciliation.

Updated over a week ago

Accounting classes help your club categorize transactions for cleaner reporting and easier reconciliation. Most clubs use accounting classes to align Sprocket reporting with the same categories used in their bookkeeping software, often by team, program type, season, or revenue bucket.

Accounting classes are most useful when they mirror the categories your finance team uses outside of Sprocket.

Enable Accounting Classes

To enable accounting classes:

  1. Go to Club

  2. Select Settings

  3. Select Options

  4. Select Edit Club Options

  5. Check mark Management of Accounting Classes

  6. Save your changes

Once enabled, accounting classes will appear and be available to manage and apply across the system.

Where Accounting Classes Can Be Used

After enabling Management of Accounting Classes, accounting classes can be applied to:

  • Program

  • Checkout Option

  • Invoice Item

  • Credit

  • Surcharges

Accounting classes cannot be customized at the registration level.

Add or Adjust Accounting Classes

Accounting classes are typically used to map revenue into categories that your finance team wants to track and report on.

To add, edit, or delete accounting classes:

  1. Go to Club > Settings

  2. Select Edit Accounting Classes

To add a new class:

  • Select + Add Accounting Class

To edit an existing class:

  • Select the Accounting Class Name

To delete a class:

  • Select Delete next to the accounting class

Tip: Keep class names simple and consistent, especially if you export financials for reconciliation.

How Accounting Classes Support Reporting

Accounting Classes appear as a filter in supported financial reports. This allows finance teams to:

  • Isolate revenue by category

  • Run separate exports for reconciliation

  • Match Sprocket totals to external bookkeeping systems

  • Validate revenue mapping before close

Using consistent Accounting Class naming and filtering ensures cleaner exports and more accurate financial reporting.
