Parent vs. Player Account: What's the Difference?

Learn the difference between parent/guardian and player accounts in Sprocket Sports, and what each type of account can do.

There are two types of accounts in Sprocket Sports: Parent/Guardian accounts and Player accounts. Knowing the difference helps you understand who can do what in the system.

📱 Available on: Web browser · Mobile app

Parent/Guardian Account

The parent or guardian account is the primary account used to manage the household's players. It must be created before any players can be added or registered.

Key capabilities:

  • Add and manage multiple players in the household

  • Register players for programs

  • Grant login access to players ages 13 and older

  • Receive notifications about programs, schedules, and payments

Player Account

A player account is created by the parent or guardian after their own account exists. Players can only log in if their parent or guardian has granted them access — and only if they are 13 or older.

Key capabilities:

  • View their own schedule and team information

  • Access team chat and direct messaging in the mobile app

  • Players cannot register themselves for programs
