1. What this Program Type is
Supplemental Programs are used for shorter duration activities that sit alongside your main, season long offerings. They are often optional add ons that give players extra touches on the ball, additional training, or special experiences outside of their regular team commitments.
Common examples include camps, clinics, holiday events, and off season sessions. A Supplemental Program can be set up so that players register once, or it can allow players to register for more than one activity inside the same Program, such as multiple camp weeks or different clinic dates.
Families registering into a Supplemental Program usually understand that this is an extra opportunity, not their primary team or league placement.
2. When to use this Program Type
Use a Supplemental Program when you are running short term or add on activities that are separate from your core season teams.
Typical use cases:
Single or multi day camps during school breaks
Weekly skill clinics offered for a limited block of weeks
Off season or pre season training opportunities
Specialty offerings such as position specific sessions or small group training
Supplemental Programs are a good fit when:
Players may register for more than one activity inside the same Program, such as multiple weeks or multiple clinic options
You want to track participation and revenue separately from your main teams
You do not need a full team structure for every activity
If you are organizing your primary season or year long teams, a Core Program is usually a better fit. If you are running ongoing, repeating training blocks where players frequently sign up for individual sessions, a Training Sessions type may be a better match, depending on how your club uses these definitions.
3. How registration works with this Program Type
Supplemental Programs are most often set up as Open Programs, where players can register for any option they are eligible for. Invitations can be used if you want to control access, but many clubs treat these as broadly available offerings.
Common registration patterns:
Single registration for a simple offering
One Registration that covers a single camp or clinic.
Families choose the player, complete the form, and pay for that event.
Multiple registrations for multiple options
Separate Registrations for each camp week, clinic series, or location.
Players can sign up for one or several options, depending on what you allow.
Grouped Registrations can be helpful when there are many choices inside a single Supplemental Program.
Eligibility rules
Often based on age and sometimes on current or past participation.
You can allow both current club players and outside players, or restrict it to current members only, depending on your needs.
Because these are add on programs, registrations often focus on:
Basic player details and waivers
Payment for the specific event or series
Simple choices such as session time, location, or week
4. How teams and rostering work
Supplemental Programs are flexible in how they handle teams, since many of these activities do not require formal team structures.
For Supplemental Programs, the available team related options are:
Traditional Teams
No traditional teams, but players grouped by registration
No traditional teams or groups needed
Here is how each option works in practice.
Traditional Teams
You can create teams inside the Supplemental Program and manually roster players.
This works when you want stable groups for communication or scheduling, such as a camp group, clinic pod, or recurring training group.
Traditional Teams also give you full access to team based features in the mobile app and Calendar.
No traditional teams, but players grouped by registration
The system does not use traditional teams, but it groups players based on the registration they completed.
Each registration acts like a group, which can be useful when you want to organize players by which week or clinic they signed up for, without building formal teams.
This is often a good fit for camps and clinics that are structured by session choice rather than by long term teams.
No traditional teams or groups needed
Use this option when you do not need any team or group structure for the Supplemental Program.
Players are associated with the Program and their registration only.
Team specific calendars and communication are not used for this Program type.
As with other Program types:
Once registrations have started for a Supplemental Program, Team Type cannot be changed.
If you think you may want to organize by groups or teams, it is better to choose Traditional Teams or grouped by registration from the beginning.
5. How this Program Type connects to other features
Supplemental Programs tie into several other areas of the platform, but they are primarily used to support shorter term scheduling and communication.
Calendar usage
Events such as camp sessions, clinic dates, or special training blocks are created under the Supplemental Program or its teams/groups.
All events must fall within the Program Start Date and End Date when they are tied to this Program.
For multi option offerings, each registration or group can have its own set of events, which keeps schedules clear for families.
Communication and mobile app
If you use Traditional Teams or registration based groups, you can communicate directly with those rosters through the mobile app and messaging tools.
This is useful for sending reminders, what to bring lists, and weather or schedule changes for a specific camp or clinic.
Relationship to Core Programs
Many clubs run Supplemental Programs alongside Core Programs to give extra development opportunities.
A player may be on a Core team and also enrolled in one or more Supplemental offerings during the same season or year.
Reporting
Using the Supplemental Program type and appropriate Program Category helps isolate these add on offerings in your reporting.
This makes it easier to see total participation and revenue from camps, clinics, and other extras, separate from your main team programs.
